Computer Assisted Language Learning programs and online activities are integrated with all courses offered at the Preparatory Program.

The CALL environment can be a classroom with instructor-guided activities, a computer lab with the instructor present, or simply students working independently and in their own time. Students are also provided with individual IDs and passwords to access the complementary CALL programs from their homes. With the use of audio and video, the CALL Centers provide another medium through which students can experience English language as it is used in real life situations. Specifically, the ability to access current cinematic features facilitates students' exposure to English in a variety of entertaining scenarios. Further, the CALL Center offers hundreds of level specific lectures and academic texts with exercises that students can access in order to gain out-of-class practice of academic skills.

In the CALL Centers, students can
  • practice grammar, reading, listening and writing with English for Academic Purposes (EAP) specific software
  • practice reading, listening and writing through carefully selected materials prepared by Bilgi Instructors
  • watch English language movies, with subtitles and supporting language materials which complement the films
  • access numerous language learning websites
  • listen to songs and read their lyrics
  • choose from an array of language games that enhance vocabulary acquisition
  • reference computerized mono-lingual and bi-lingual dictionaries for which there are audial components highlighting pronunciation and stress
  • listen to the tapescripts of listening activities from the course books to make up for what they have missed in class
  • access additional research materials in the form of interactive encyclopedias
